LOL the LUMIX Lab is impossible to use for transferring LUTs and photos between the S9 and the iPhone. It fails to connect via WiFi after pairing Bluetooth. Useless app.

Hallo Caleb, I already have a GH5II but I need better low light performance. I'm so undecided between purchasing a second handed GH5s or waiting for a new GH7 (I don't need some professional stuff like RAW and something like that). What do you think about this question?

Apple ProRes RAW sounds great...in theory... But can someone name a real world shooting scenario where it could be used with the GH7? That kind of quality probably needed for cinema or streaming or high end commercial work...but those jobs won't use a GH7. Also it would be nice if Panasonic could update this menu as shooting in mov and switching from 60 open gate to 4K 24p seems like a lot of scrolling. Like either a resolution or fps based "shelves" system where you select for example the res and inside that category you'll only find the options for that res would be a pretty easy FW update and a lot easier to jump between modes

Wanna see a review where people test the AF with say a cannon 24 - 105mm and a metabones speed booster. Then I’ll know it’s for me.

Think most cameras brought out these days are made overboard. Has specs that will rarely be used. Only people who will use these specs is content 'creator's ' who need to make video content when they can't think of anything else to talk about. The GH5 had open gate 5k. Yet it was hardly talked about. Content camera creator's want so much today it seems camera brands are making cameras for UA-camrs rather then for those using cameras for clients or wedding's. Using the full specs on the GH7 a CFEXPRESS type b card is needed. A 64gb card cost £89 with the 256gb costing close to £200. With most shooting a 64gb card won't hold much memory so the user will be needing a 128gb card witch cost £139.

I think for the GH7 Panasonic should have kept the colors science of the GH6 instead of the G9II. The G9II colors are not bad, better than the GH5 in my opinion, but the GH6 is in another league.

i've pretty much memorised the video recording modes now. it's a shame 60p open gate is pixel/pixel (cropped) and not even full sensor...

I only shoot 4k 24p or sometimes just 1080p, and only for my idie film stuff, and some UA-cam shorts. I'm thinking my G9II will be good enough. Now if Lumix offers a $500 trade in bonus again maybe I'll get the GH7.

What phone so you use as a photographer and everyday person, iPhone or Android, which model? Anythig you can only do on one platform over the other?

I have two GH5’s, one GH5 Mk2, and one GH6. I shoot live theatre, concerts and dance shows. I have been using the GH6 for closeups so I have been using manual focus and the focus limiter and it has been pretty reliable. I must say that I’d really like the autofocus of the GH7 or the G9 II.

Does GH7 photo quality improve significantly from GH6?

I have been using both for a long time and they are excellent. I also use the 200mm f2.8 (same filter thread). It is a killer lens too. I think the 25-50 is probably the best lenses Lumix has made. You don't mention close focus, but it is good on both lenses. The lack of good closes focus on my FF system, is a real plus for m43s.

Panasonic kinda kicked users in the nuts by following the GH6 closely with the GH7 feels like they needed to deliver the GH6 but then had some extra ideas and put them in the GH7 and cashed in again, GH7 should have just been the GH6

Can you leave a long telephoto lens on and it'll fit in that camera spot? I find when I'm at a sports even I'm mostly shooting on a my 50-200 ... so would rather have that on than have to change lenses right away.

Do you think GH5 footage will mix ok with S5IIx? I do mostly social media content for clients whos videos just end up on IG and FB. I'm upgrading to a S5IIx but am considering only getting one instead of two, and then just using my GH5 as a b cam when I rarely need one. Thoughts on this?

As has been the case for a while, the GH6 has more AF than the BM cams. So if the GH6 is not useable, what should the BM owners do? haha They are all great cams.

Hi. Can you tell me where in the G9ii settings I can enable focus lock by tap on the display in manual mode? In gh5 I could just tap on the display to lock focus.

nice! what is the difference to grade the vlog like you did and simply go in the left pane where the LUT library is is and there choose the panasonic lut or any other lut? Seems to work fine..

im running 2 GH4's still, trying to decide if i should get a gh5mk2, 6, or even a 7. i cant afford to upgrade both, so would i be able to edit them to match??

I feel like you get more value out of the 12-35/35-100mm f/2.8 combo. I currently shoot with the Leica 12-35mm f/2.8, the f/1.7 zooms are attractive however still can't get over the price tag. Great content.

you don't even need the 25-50, just get the 10-25 and 35-100 2.8 and just crop in from 25 to 35.

Maybe look at Shane (Geeky Nerdy Techy) how to test AF - just sitting in the same focal plane and sippin' coffee won't do much. Also you seem to notoriously f* up your AF sensitivity/stickyness settings in every video - also: did you update the firmware of your speedbooster at all - there was one in mid november 2023 ('Improved AF accuracy with older lenses that do not report distance information')..

ISO "frequency"? Who uses that term? ASA/ISO in film is the sensitivity of the emulsion to light, in digital cameras is equivalent to gain - no frequencies anywhere!?

When full frame start to have f2 f1.8 zoom lens, mft still has majority zoom lens at f5.6(the look), only two lens has f3.4 look. And I do not see any sign Panasonic will invest in m43 high quality fast zoom lens.

You are partially wrong. Yes, the 25-50 does not extend when zooming. It's all internal. However, the 10-25 DOES extend and trombone out. I own both of these lenses and they are spectacular.

I've been through a ton of MFT lenses (and those sigma art badboys) for my GH5, GH5ii, GH6 and soon to be GH7 and I bought the Leica 10-25 & 25-50 last year and they're my power couple for A/B talking heads. I also like the size, sadly for a lot of clients they see big, impressive, looking equipment and think "professional" ... sad but true! The size is fine for me, if I wanted a travel lens then you've got the 35-100mm and all sorts. These guys are beautiful and I'm happy to see some firmware updates!
